Squares
Alea – one particular detail immediately catches the eye on this piano: a delicate band of squares, crafted from two different materials, which subtly accentuates the contours of the piano’s body. This repeating geometric inlay defines all the dimensions; it is the unique, truly distinctive design feature.
A symbiosis of piano craftsmanship and modern design
Squares have often left a clear mark on Maly’s work; other architects, such as Charles R. Mackintosh and Josef Hoffmann, also loved this wonderful form – without any directional emphasis and, precisely because of this, characterised by perfect geometric balance. The Alea features the square frieze as its sole ornament. ALEA is available in several finishes, e.g. walnut with macassar squares or oak with macassar squares.
Formidable Details
Gracefully supported by two elegant consoles, the keyboard appears to float within a carefully composed architectural form. Fine black inlaid shadow gaps structure the design and emphasize its sophisticated geometry. The black cast-iron plate and shimmering silver bass strings create distinctive visual accents that underline the instrument’s exclusive character.
